October 3, 1923 Dover, New Jersey. Started first in the Republic Magnetic Iron Mine at Warton, near Dover. The ore veins are in Pre- Cambrian oenite, and average about 30% iron. The ore is crushed dry fine and then passed under magnets and ore washing tables. Have a sample of the iron ore, and one of the country rock, an oenite. Near Dingee looked at some Triassic lava flows that Lawson admitted showed not the slightest metamorphism of the Triassic mud rocks. It was held that the lava had flown over wet Triassic mud flats, Near Pleasantdale looked at the great trop quarry showing a wonderful series columnar structures. Might to have a picture put in my text-book. Stopped our night at Perth Amboy.
