Berkeley, Saturday Feb 29. Spent the greater part of the day with Prof. Bruce Clark trying to talk Paleography, but he insisted to tell me if what he is doing in structural geology and tectonics. All which is detailed Hill Mountain structure that of a specialist can understand. Rainfall etc record in lithology checked here at three types. It all relates to the Cretaceous and Cenozoic times. Finally left tired out and retired to the hotel, he not seeing a single one of my maps. Said I would do this at some other day. Then he gave me arms describing in formal terms the tectonics, and in reading this I got to understand better what he tried to tell me. Had lunch with Clark at the Faculty Club and met Landon and Cread. Late in the afternoon read the many letters received here at Bruce Clark and answered 8 of them before retiring. Rainy as a day.
