D., who has specialized in foraminifera work, after three years with the Hammond interests in California, has opened consulting of- fices at 635 Petroleum Securities Bldg., Los Angeles, for mining and oil exam- inations and the microscopic correlation of oil formations. Nearly all of the large oil companies have been carrying on extensive experi- ments of microscopic correlation of oil formations, and many special departments for this work have been established through which remarkable results have been attained. Mr. Koupkoff was professor of Eco- nomic Geology since 1907 at Tomsk In- stitute of Technology, Siberia, and was also director of the Siberian Geology Committee, which corresponds to the' U. S. G. S.
