San Diego, Jan 28 - Friday Took the nine A.M. bus for Los Angeles and got off at the Scripps Institute of Oceanography about two miles n.w. of La Jolla, or 16 miles n.w. of San Diego. Intended to see Rayhan. but he had gone to Los Angeles. Looked a little over the Institute. There are two large building sheds and a group beside about two dozen small houses used as residences. There is also a little aquarium, a museum and a good library. Lots of land around the place, Skelews 640 acres. Then called on Professor Cre who is ordinarily in armors here at the Institute, and other is living in house 29. Later he took me to [illegible] Point just off Pacific Beach to see the ?Pliocene n Pleistoc- earc shell bed that in places is full of sand dollars. Got a few loose ones and then Cre dug out from a large slat which he will send me to sale. In the afternoon he took me to the top of the gravel Mesa and to "Grand Canyon" hanging place about two New Paris Tongva farms. This mesa is some
