Little Rock, Arkansas January first, 1927. Reverend Smith called on his closed car at 10:30 to show me the city. Out to County Club on the Upper Plateau where I had a good view of the environment. (coming this life too far away in Illinois) The Plateau is much elevated. The County Club is opposite "Big Rock" which he told first stood and near the U-S. Banks. Little Rock is farther down the Arkansas river. My train is late 45 minutes. The day is beautiful, balmy and sunny. The average winter temperature is about 62 degrees here at Little Rock. One gets off at Benton to go to Hot Springs. Reverend Roy Watson Smith, Pastor of Second Presbyterian Church corner of Third and Gaines street, home at 819 West Fourth st. Left for Texarcana at 3:45 and had to wait until 6:45 for train to Shreveport. Drove around in Union Landing Town for an hour. Got to Shreveport about on time. Mrs Teas and Mr. Spruill met me and put me up at the Washington Hotel built two years ago.
