Upon the whole the red shale are analf or because of something, In some cases the shale beneath the basalt is unconquanted and here is almost flocl. Mr. White collected plants from three horizons in carmaxum shale at an altitude of 700 feet altitude and 700 feet below the massive sand- stones. In the afternoon Logan collected plants among the loose shale. The most abundant invertebrate is an echim-derm which apparently occurs throughout the series. Then there are two aviculoids, the strictest one occurring in the upper horizon. Of Invercaurus I saw only small fragments. These were fluted and indicate a shell at least six inches long. Jan disappointed with the Patrot flora. The specimens are rare and in general poor, The murelwhats are more rare and very poor, Stratigraphically the Atane and Patrot beds are one series. The upper thin horizon but their sandstone holding the same horizons, From this place we can easily see the Atane cliff and trace the sandstone to the floor.
