To the Governor of Sarikak.
With the permission of Inspector Andrew a party from the United States (Smithsonian Institution) in collecting fossil plants at different places on Honshu island. They have left these provisions here and will call for them in about two weeks. Should you be so kind to use your good offices for their safe preservation during an absence I shall in due respect remain
