on the west, tuff ss shows at not 75' and at about 100' Alt. This is primarily near horizon plants collected vs. of dense place, and very likely at not the horizon y mostly the intra- tetrates. Pecten atanensis m. flack et al. Atrothia, ss is at not 75' generally st and dark sands st in which at about 60' atmo ss is plant bearing stratum from which dark st, ma- terial was obtained. Continuing upward one finds at not 300' concretion exposed along ravine, consisting of thin tuff ss and dark sands but sometimes ss-alternating, less and tuff thin sandy st. Farther back the series is seen to rise to not 2000'. A noticeable feature is the disappearance of the outcropping of shale in approaching the main freshly cut ex- promise near the ravine and already remarked. Another fact is the red outcropping of the shales near the plant hori- gon or even apparently long exposed really the ravine. And differing from st, the latter are found to be the normal color, though pointed red on the edges exposed. The stream has cut a deep canyon, carrying into a large apron fan of detritus nearly 2 m in width. Numerous large fragments of outbursts are found in this tulus. Some seem to be wood of palms or ferns. Some specimens taken. The flora at mouths of ravine is evidently Atare
