I perswain men for them return home. Sam and J Smart to ship. Soon our baggage comes aboard. Autumn storms fine in hours all side. He proceeds to Dallail. Several boats come by but mr Johnuckut not be found. Finally Stickney, Opate, Figgins, Tom Perry and I get into out boat and row ashore. Meet Mr. and Johnuckut and latter the latter, still suffering greatly from fever, tr Hope. The latter then sails at me for Rio. Soon again sets in. Return at 10.30 P.M. Tuesday Sep. 7, 1897. White's Journal. One of the Eskimo men is on quarter deck and asks Play for crepe thyme, and putting it to his mouth hawled something out over the waves, but Play understood what he said, saying he was cal- lung on the departed spirit of his father to drive away the wind.
