Mr. White concludes that I had better go direct to Washington. He only then gave up his contemplated trip of collecting fossils about here and will go with me to Boston to ship our Greenland material. I agree with him that it would be best for me to go home and give my fingers the attention they need. Sep 24 Friday St John. Left the place at 7 A.M. and arrived in Boston at 9 P.M. Took the night train for New York at Sep 25 Saturday, 1897. Had breakfast in my room and left for Washington where I arrived at 5.30 P.M.
