Sep. 10. Friday. Baffin Land. Back again at Cape Hare on Jansens arrived at 8 A.M. shortly after anchor place, and that Jansens come aboard and tells us that my Fitz, Porter, Shaw, Carpenter, Bral, White and Brodrick with eight nation in two whale boat left Cape Hare a few days after our departure for Fortsichen Bay and that they have not yet returned. Some of us fear that some accident may befallen them. If they do not arrive in a few days the ship will try to find them. My finger discharge now feels for a small hole on the back of the third joint. Dr. Lohr thought he could find communi- cation between the cavity and the general shoy, But in applying a note by pressure of the water applied to other opening failed to go through the other opening. Dawn up our day. Return at 8 P.M. A storm with snow and rain is setting in at 4 P.M.
