Fifth continuous
flowing day.
Had a late breakfast and then hiked and
I started out for the Encicene plant beds. These are at an
elevation one 1200, the others 1410 feet. The former
yields the iron stones or “Atanexerdlung Stones”. I
expected to be able to get just quantity of these but
the outlook is rather against this.
Returned to
camp by 2 P.M. around five o'clock turn ice on
our both powder at camp.
On arriving in camp found that Jons Lay
the governor of Daskell is on our text to make a call.
Mr. Stickney was entertaining him with the wine gives
us by the other Pastor. Dinner was soon ready and
we asked the old man in to dine with us. He had
soup and crockets, duck and coffee and peering
peaches. Later we served a hot toddy. After this
the governor went to his boat for several bottles of
fine anise in Daskell and a bottle schnapps and
a box of “sandrine” cigars. During the drinking he
