July 31 Saturday Off Labrador. Another splendid morning. At 7.30 A.M. the sun is out in all its glory, there is no wind and no ice in sight. Every body is in good spirits particularly since we may during the night arrive at Cape Haren. The lowest temperature last night was 35° At 10.45 we are opposite the largest berg so far seen. When once on the square side with the surface somewhat fringed, its away from probably 6 to 8 mile and many hundred feet high. At 12.15 we enter a fog bank. At 12.45 we saw a large berg in the fog. It was photographed by White. After 1.15--we have no more fog. At 6 P.M. we are off Resolution Island about 20 miles out to sea. The evening is a beautiful one and the Port party is having a party time and items. This banquet has been raffled at $1.00 per man, printing taking part. Stein paid $5.00 for it. Then they have processions. At now 10.00 P.M. and I am writing the
