Discussion w/ Genevieve. Tentacles are all the same in ectoprocts, v definite re all cheilostomes. Why not look at cyelostome tentacles. Pedicellarian tentacles might be a useful aspect to examine H Smith & G lutand - tentacles, Ectoprocts & entoprocts are v separate & do not belong just look at the tentacles together - eg the tentacles are not at all the same. D Gordon's work on digestive tract. G uses EDTA to decalcify! G says that knifemaker makes too soft a knife for bryozoans & one needs to use pincers on glass as you can't thoroughly decalcify bry, & also there are sand grains wh do not dissolve. En route to Roscoff. G says need hard resin for bry eg araldite (didn't hear her correctly). She is going to try Spurst because complete penetration of tissue is a problem. off hobs. Spurt!! G uses different mounting media depending on stain; gen C balsam; dislikes synthetics such as Cedex; however, admits it is useful under certain conditions.
