Savannah Georgia January first 1912. It is still raining this morning and it is somewhat cold. Savannah lies high along the southern bank of the Ogeechee. The height is probably 25 feet while to the north there is a low swampy Ogeechee bottom many miles in width. Under sun-shine Savannah is certainly a good looking southern city. In the center of the town are to be found the first houses and many of these are brick built and commodious. The Palmetto palms are very abundant all throughout the city and except the dirt roads the general appearance here is not different from that of Jacksonville. Boat leaves on the 1:30 P.M. Sea- land Air Line for New York where I should arrive tomorrow at 2:30 P.M.
