St. Augustine, Florida Jan 1-1930 Due here at 10.25 A.M., but were 10 minutes late. Checked my baggage at the depot and then walked around the village to see what should get for a hotel. Went to the Chamber of Commerce for help and they gave me a long list of apartments, rooms and hotels. The house with rooms do not look inviting, and so I visited about half dozen of the cheaper hotels, one of which looked acceptable. Finally took a large southeastern room without bath on the third floor (no elevator) of a frame annex of the Buckingham Hotel at six dollars per day, a special rate by the month. Unpacked and made myself at home during the rest of the afternoon. It is a bright sunny warm day, almost too warm for the clothes I have on.
