Orindu Park, Florida
I am visiting Professor R.H. Chittenden and his daughter Edith, who are wintering here at the new Hotel Alcatama.
Started on a racing day in a bus via Palatka and then south to Deland and Orindu Park which is five miles north of Orlando, or 125 miles S.W. of St. Augustine.
Returning on the 27th I changed buses at Deland and then car to Daytona and along the seashore north to St. Augustine.
Had an interesting time with Chittenden walking near and far to see the beautiful homes and orange orchards about the many lakes, many of which are circular and some are sinks due to percolation water under ground. It is hilly in Volusia County, but none are more than 20 feet high, and the region is putting out men 200 feet above sea level.
Orindu Park is beautiful because of really southern looking orange homes here. There are fine big hotels, The Red Sea in Virginia, and Alcatama.
