Monday, Jan 2 - 1928 New Orleans Worked mostly the day on the Permian Ice Age paper. Took a long walk into the A.E. part of the city. New Orleans is certainly not a clean and well kept city. All the layer houses have front porches and many one for each floor, evidently to sit on and sleep on during hot days. They lend no charm to the homes, and all the houses are devoid of fruit and side gardens. What seems to be new I do not know. The houses are queer signs and lines and few have been recently painted, and when painted are not attractive colors. Rich and poor appear to be neighbors, and the negroes appear to be intermixed. It is still cold with the temperature below freezing. Tuesday mornings paper say it was down during the night to 21° F. Tuesday Jan. 3 - 1928 Working on Permian paper. Monday Jan 9 - 1928 Finished and sent Mrs. L. Ware my Permian Glacial Age paper by Express prepaid. Letter of instructions inside, and also a separate letter to her about sending it.
