Thursday, Dec 29-1927. Nashville. At 9 A.M., attended the Council Meeting of the Association and saw the election of H.F. Ostern, Secretary Livingston had sent out a circular letter to all of the Council asking for candidates and then were seven or eight more than 23 votes, as follows: R.G. Millikan (Physics) For first vote Second Final H.F. Ostern (Paleont.) 13 14 41 T.H. Morgan (Biol.) 16 26 18 E.G. Conklin (Biol.) 1 — — H.J. Jennings (Biol.) 1 — — E.L. Thorndike (Psych.) 0 — — J.C. Prentiss (Paleont.) 7 7 — H.M. Russell (Astro.) 1 — — Endorsements were called for before the second vote and all excepting one are for Ostern and Morgan. Most isamit was given for Morgan, but because Ostern is an older man and has the run of the influential men of his sort he carried it the day. Ostern's first Howard spoke feeling in favor of Ostern and other he had done in the evolution cause — it brought Ostern election.
