Megiss'oo is a sweet little girl and it is a wonder that she has not been spoiled by the petting that she has had from me and me. She likes to be kissed Kablumak fashion, but she has not quite learned how to kiss in return. Jot is somewhat out of gear. The old rheumatisms (?) which began yesterday evening in his right hand now going up his arm. He is afraid of its giving him a stiff neck, as it has done before. Hence he is not up to his usual amount of chaffing. Captain Corner is really sorry to have me leave, though he does not seem to anticipate any particular trouble to me from my trip. He wrote a letter to his wife, but at first declined to send it by me, saying that according to an old sailor's superstition it would bring me bad luck to take. When, however, he saw that I had no samples, have the letter to me the last thing after everything had gone out to the Kahnmatitis. I crowded it into a pocket. Captain says to persevere now with my enterprise and put it through if at all possible. I mean to do right! He says too not to wait at Uphernike or Boise for the Dammuk
