were crowded into the room ca 16'x24' in 11/2 dimensions & hermetically sealed. 14-13 1 space occupied by altar, stove & melodeon. Lutheran service conducted by catechist - He + organist wore black anoraks with and standing white (celluloid) collars. The lounge girls + mothers were togged out in their best finery - white karnits, embroid- ered white upper stockings, new pants and fancy anoraks & wore gay silk head kerchiefs. The mother wore a black velvet anorak. Got away at 1 p.m. my Kalmusitik haring 11 dogs with Emil Lange as driver + the other 9 dogs with Samson Petersen driving. Very so warm that I wore my sweater only without neck till 11 p.m. - drove for several miles (2 hrs) on ice foot ex- cept over one point for short distance - all very well except for the close freez- trinity of a drop into the sea - took to land and crossed extensive fen for miles. Samson shot an old squire. The bird flying up into land & ducking, flying about 100 yards from us. I fired at one showing only its head but the shot was too fine for me. Emil fired at two flamingos who were almost in line and tore one all to pieces with bullet from my gun - had to feed to a dog. Lots of water birds. and fowl.
