Got away at 1 p.m. my Kalmusitik haring
11 dogs with Emil Lange as driver + the
other 9 dogs with Samson Petersen driving.
Very so warm that I wore my sweater
only without neck till 11 p.m. - drove
for several miles (2 hrs) on ice foot ex-
cept over one point for short distance -
all very well except for the close freez-
trinity of a drop into the sea - took to
land and crossed extensive fen for
miles. Samson shot an old squire.
The bird flying up into land & ducking,
flying about 100 yards from us. I fired
at one showing only its head but the
shot was too fine for me. Emil fired
at two flamingos who were almost in
line and tore one all to pieces with
bullet from my gun - had to feed
to a dog. Lots of water birds.
and fowl.
