(10) Had scarcely finished dressing this morning when Mrs Range came in and told me that con- ditions seemed favorable for crossing the Raigar today. Everything was in a bustle at once. I changed to my traveling costume, packed my things, some from clothing still being wet from washing, and the boat was off a few minutes before 10 o'clock. My hosts would take no pay for my accommodation, I think that Mr L. will have done so but mother Mrs L. said "No, no! Only give Margreta something!" So Margreta got 2 kr and the other girl 1 kr. The former being done my washing. First time boat has been in the water this season. A good whole boat. Had six men: four oars men, one steerer and one man in how to fend off ice. Did not need the extra man, for we encountered almost no ice the whole way across & the sea was like glass most the way. It was a summer day's excursion, save for
