Henasake at base 1 "Little Ummamate" mondmin at 4:20 a.m. and sorted Jens Fleicher out of bed, but he was cheerful & cor dial. He is K.R.'s uncle - Was born in Upernivik + is 70 yrs old tho he does not look to be 60. Remembers Hull, Kane, Hayes, the Chinkerie W[illegible] Turned in at 6:10 and slept well till after 12 + got up about 1 pm. Had delicious fried Flammign breasts for dinner Flag up. Arr going on tonight with 3 Kahnwuts. Hul present wit[illegible] Jens Fleicher who is a rather comical person - I will take no pay for myself or others Kander can at 7-4th. temp - 6.5 C gotta 9 dogs then 8 + 00les (or bodie) 8 23 May Wednesday arr Keker Tak at 6:30 a.m. after an interesting ride over the land, which enjoyable too, with the exception of 1/2 - 1/4 mile of walk down a spred sled on a 30° slope of soft snow with occasional patch of longions hard snow. This little way was the most severe tax on me I think of anything in the whole trip, though (Major Karsuatsuk)
