1917 2/1 1 January, 1917 Off 11:2:40 am No shocks Motor stopped at 3:18:50 this morning- Started it again at 9:33. Fire was out, the lamp having gotten to smoking badly in the night. After a while I turned the lamp down so low that it went out. He may have touched the machine in some way. Started on again all night. Perhaps the cold stopped it, but it was 10° at 9:33 & the motor has run at lower temperatures. Time marks OK. On at 11:4:10 Temp 10° (Outside -18°) Lighted stove. Temp 11:30a, 13°; 12:30, 15.5°; 3p. 18° 10:30 p.m. 24° 2 Jan. Off 10:38 No shocks Some unimportant interruptions of minute marks slow uniform sliding of pendulum toward S.W. from ca 4 to ca 5 p.m causing needle point to diverge about 2 cm lucky and return quickly. on 10:39:20 Temp 16.5° (Outside -12°) 3 Jan Off 10:17:30 No shocks Disconnected on account of other work and On at 2:43:40 Temp 3° (Outside -16°) Stove not burning since yesterday evening in acct. errorting - lighted again at 2:50 p.m. - Temp 3:30 10° clock 9.5 sec fast by D.B.
