massive, light gray, x baddled. Weathers Fe brown on joint planes. This unit thickens laterally at expense of overlying siltstone. At one point is about 20.0 ± D. 7.0 Interbedded fine gr. ss. and silty greenish gray clay. [Sample from green clay] laterally clays thin + ss beds coalesce and to W ss thins out and interval largely clay. E. 7.0 Sandstone as in C. West in cut it lenses out into variegated red+ green clay + argill siltstone. Then reappears again 5 side of portal and thickens to join ss lens (see G.) at portal. F. 14.0 Claystone, silty + argill. siltstone. chiefly red (about 5R 4/4). G. At least 20' exposed — Green argill. siltstn. + silty clay with yellow stain - occupies upper 5 to 10 ft where no ss present goes into red and purple beds in lower 5.0+ [color of latter varies, Range from 5RP4/2 and 10 P 4/2* to 5 RP 3 /2 and 10P* 3/2 - splotted with ironey red clay 5R 4/2 and 5 P 3/2.¹⁶ Greys to dusty purple and red purple. with *This interpolated from chart as between 5P+ 5RP 29
