1992 M. Stanback M. Formicivorus Murf 31 Mar 1105 Saw 9 RM, 187.6 from CVGR here. Flew to CVGR 1 Apr 1510 No acorns seen. 9 Apr 0830 I hear quite a bit of activity here. ? 12 Apr 0820 Nail a piece of wood to top of fence post or put some dog food on it. They need encouragement. 0950 Platform food all gone! (pies?) 10 May 0910-0920 Spied from CV2. At 0920 a bird flushed from a limb and another immediately flew to it or went in a hole. Nest! In the uphill tree Cloned. 4 well incubated eggs, 1 of which is infertile. Should hatch soon. Set blind. 16 May 1130 Mv = 22.7 (10.1) DG = 21.8 (10.1). Val, next time tell me when they feed during an incubation watch. Oh well missed brood reduct. Found remains of all 3 eeggs (+ the infert - I removed) its very small). 17 May Roost: several birds in tree A maybe 1-2 in tree B 1 bird flew to CVI to roost 19 May 1000 checked out 4 roost holes: couldn't find A-hole, Free climbed B hole (yuk) and tied - set an ambush. Wood too thick to cut for a dubious ambush, so I just drilled a small hole down at the bottom. I'll blow thru this v Freak the birds out. A big piece of tree recently came down 100 m NW of here. Cloudy. Roost: Val reports birds in C & D. 24 May 1430 Took down B ambush, set (v tied) one at nest.
