1994 M. Stanback M. Formicivorus AFT 7 Mar 1400 Set J. up for census. Lots acorns stored! 2 Apr 0915 Hello'd holes - nothin 3 Apr Roost watch - 3 birds into upper hole. 4 Apr Set ambush at upper hole - 2 birds go in. Alas, I later find out 3 birds into a pole hole at Gazo, so I shan't be pulling the string here tomorrow. It only Walt were around.... 5 Apr 0930 Tied off ambusher (but left in place). No eggs. Ants. 6 Apr Roost watch. Untie + set ambusher. 1-3 birds in (late) 7 Apr Ambush! 2 birds (2073 = BM even though says HM on Field list) + 2320 HF. Unfortunately, the BF hasn't been seen in a long time, but then no one's really censused. I did see 3 birds roost here last week, + today when I released the HF she was greeted by another bird - so I'm content to assume this is a viable group (BM, BF, HF). Took BM to lab for lap (getting braver) went off without a hitch. Released at 0715. Big testes (5 Fev). Painted 9 pink, 3 blue. 18 Apr Hello holes - nothin 2 May 1300 " later: Walt gets bird in high hole 16 May 1200 Set a round blind + a gall. Nest w 3 Fat r-sassies. 21 May 0715 Set & ready. Breeders started feeding after 1 hr. HF finally came at 0934. Nab.
