1993 M. Stanback 12 M. Formicivorus RANT (12 June) refused to come to granary. Took 9 to aviary. Quit at 0800. Once we got in the truck, the birds returned, r 1 10'd (with binoculars) 8 WKM = BR-W/D = 2188 From RANA?, DM: Geez, are these the RANA birds moving in again? Maybe it is a Finch effect over there. 14 June 0700 Released 9 + 8 (green + pink). 9 was severely reprimanded by her sister - for the whole morning. would mount her + peck her head, but green wouldn't leave top of granary. The 8 (pink) had the shit beat out of him by the 3 8+, but no one ever hit the net. Damn. He finally gave up + sat on the periphery garricking. The 3 8+ occasionally gave chase. Damn, damn. I wanted 1 8+ here, not 3 (so I could do a p.s. next spring) Back to Hastings, grabbed a Ravi 8+ + stuck him in a cage on the ground w/ a net above. Caught 88 2182 r 2186 (+ had to deal w/ Brian + Kent's kids - whee!). Green 9 still getting chased, but at least the pink 8+ has a fair fight. Brought 2182 + 2186 back to aviary. 15 June 0700 For better or worse, Mr Pink is back in charge at RANT... with 2 99 (the green is still getting beat up by her sister). Released white bill who put up a good fight but was routed. Other 8+ (released 15 min later) also chased away.
