1993 M. Stanback M. Formicivorus RANT (14 Apr) I id Pink r Green (94) r Pink (8?). However, when I was over at Rana, I saw a major chase down here - so I don't know for sure what's up. 16 Apr 0900 I remove nails by low pole hole (at 0830 Chris shows me a potential nest on W side of CV road) 22 Apr Roost watch. 3 birds - coming r going. At least I roosts somewhere in the fat snaggy limb where they nested last year. They went to bed late so it was hard to see. An owl came out of the original ambush hole (I'm pretty sure). I flashed all the holes (including the one in the woods) and got nothing. 27 Apr 1400 I sneak up r hear "tap-tap-tap". Hello r 9 sticks head out of the lefthand of the 2 holes in the fat high snag (same as 92a nest) I manage a peey (next time bring the big ladder - the snag is très rotten w baby oaks growing out of it) and see no eggs (~90% sure). Gee, do I want to start a p.s. with babies r see if they have infanticide? Or do I nab the 8 on the nest during egg laying to get monoq blood? 24 May Rana III: Kris showed me a low nest. 2 chicks big = RY KNW O = 66 g (1°=15), small = MV = 50 (4). I took small one r put into R1 26 May 1530 Nest!! 4 babies (how'd I miss it?) in snag limb.
