1993 M. Stanback M. Formicivorus 6 RANT (23 Mar) Autopsy of 2160: Skin was very yellow & thick under all around original lap. Wasn't pus - I opened r seemed mostly to be just color - stains. Lap hole under leg had healed, but when I opened the bird, there appeared to be like mold right around entrance of lap (very near lung). Other side was better looking - no yellow. However, the skin was puffed out like there was an air sac problem. Looked fine all the way in. The testis on the original side was irregular (which means my need for a double lap was real) Testis sits under the very red, surprisingly globular kidney lobe. Don't be mistaken! I removed the "normal" testis on the right side. L=5mm, W=4.3 mm, mass=.04 g. I put this testis in the vial in the Formalin jar. 2160 is in the Formalin (sans color bands, but w Metal band r blue paint.) Mold growing on inner wall. 1530: 2180 died: autopsy: heavy thick overgrown scab over wound - but not leaky. Again, the whole area (1" diam) around incision appeared white due to the orange tissue underlying the skin. As with 2160, there was mold growing on the inner body wall near the lap hole (around it). Leg was stiff even before death. Testes symmetrical. Removal I r put in vial in Formalin. 4.3 x 3.5 mm, .022 g. Carcass in Formalin (24 Mar) 0800 Went to Rant: dead quiet. Cows messed 1 string. 27 Mar 0825-0845. NOBA 4 (narrow blk band on Forehead) here
