1993 M. Stanback M. Formicivorus RANT (15 Mar) 1700 Both 8 & 9 seemed Fine in aviary. 16 Mar 0730 9 Fine r Flying around. 8 was asleep on the aviary wall below roost hole. Looked like he slept there (shit pile). I gave (Force Fed) him some dogFood or put him in the log. Oh yes, last night 2 birds roosted in a snag hole in the granary (the nest where I stole kids in 92). We ambushed this am but there's a 2nd entrance Roost watch: 1 bird into a snag hole near the 13 Mar ambush hole. I watched over in the W trees, where I Found a hole last night (or prevented a bird From using). 2 birds went into it Z-nite (of course, I also chased 2 birds out of a live oak hole a little earlier) 17 Mar Ambush! Pole over granary hole, got 9 Z130. Then pole over the W Woods hole and got 2 birds, 8 From RANT + 9 2007 From RANA! What's she doing here - I guess she's a Floater since being evicted From RANA. Anyway, got single blood samples from all 3 birds (@ 1 hr after pole) C'est la vie, All back to lab for laps. Will this ambush start a power struggle? 8 Z157 is still there, as is 9 Z158 (but she wasn't seen the other day). By the way, it was pouring rain all thru the ambush! After lapping & bloodwork, it was back out to RANT for a power struggle. Not real active, but OK. 8 Z157, NOBA 8, & NOBA 9 all Friendly.
