MacFlat - R3
30 Mar 1400 Saw 5 birds at MacFlat (had First thought
they were R3 birds [illegible]) They also have stores,
in the burned snag and in the sycamore snags
over toward R3. I'll have Eric do a census.
31 Mar Eric reports quite a few acorns in the uphill
side of the burn granary. A non-R3 ♂ seen
20 Apr People are reporting interest in the low road
hole here. R3 birds?
1630 ♂ in a new hole 2 ft above old hole.
Another bird was hanging outside. Peep. Fresh chips.
24 Apr 1600 Peep again. Empty.
27 Apr 1540-45. Quick spy. Nada.
1 May 1230 Well damn. As soon as I stop peeping,
they start laying - 5 eggs! in higher hole.
5 May 1500 Cut open hole - a royal pain - very rotten
11 May 1530 3 cold kids - wouldn't beg - so I couldn't grab 'em.
Did get: RL = 6.1 (the other 2 looked about the
same size). Will return tomorrow.
12 May 1530 RL = 9.5, LL = 9.3, RW = 5.4, LW (RL from yesterday) =
8.7, 1 egg still unhatched! Will return tomorrow.
13 May 1415 RL = 12.3 = K, LL = 13.4 = Y, RW = 7.8, LW = 11.4
egg still unhatched - couldn't reach - must be dead
17 May 1500 LL = 34 = LG, LW = R = 34.2, RW = LP = 26.4,
