1992 M. Stanback M. Formicivorus 1500 HNHR No acorns. 27 Apr Came to roost watch, but bird in hole early (traditional) 30 Apr 1330 Climbed traditional hole (after having to set a new string -grrr). It was empty, damp, full of yuck. Set ambush. Roost watch: at least one bird in. Early on I heard birds at one of the other main trees. 1 May Ambush! Get all 4! Blood From all. 2015 (HHT) released after processing. All got paint. No acorns here. 1609 (BF) ovary: some activity, but not very developed 1901 (BM) medium sized testes, a little bigger than 2014 2014 (Hm) rather small testis (#1-#2) 1901 is missing a claw on one leg. 5 May 0730 Something's up. Chasing, wakas, drumming. Damn 0830 1609, 1901, 2015 going around together like glue (especiallly 99 1609, 2015) Didn't see 2014. Saw 7 chase an intruder. So what's the deal? 9 May 1500 Checked hole - empty. Had some lichen & leaves (mouse nest start). I pulled it out & dug out the gunk on bottom but it kind of goes forever so I quit. Are there birds at Pump? 24 May 0850-0915 Spied. Saw 2 suspicious flights to the uphill (N) tree. Checked afterward - nothing. 25 May 1300-1330. Spied. Deader 'n' a hammer. 1 June 1830 Helled holes - nada 2 June 0900-0930 Spied. Nothing (but 1 flight to creek or beyond. Afterwards I looked for holes - nada.
