1993 M. Stanback M. Formicivorus MOON H N H R 29 Mar Roost watch at granary : not a peep 1 Apr pm. Set strings For nets : one got stuck in process - must return w big ladder. 3 Apr Finished setting strings. Oh yes, and yesterday (2 Apr) I checked the hill holes - empty but Fresh work - looks good. 4 Apr 0940-0955. Bird landed at higher right-hand hole, then moved down + started working on lower left hole (backing out). Another bird landed nearby - old bird went into hiirite hole. 2nd bird landed at lower (First left) + went all the way in + came out head First w chips. Then worked at entrance backing out w chips. Gave Food r acorns. 7 Apr 1200 Food+ acorns not touched. Checked holes - both look good, the upper rt looks a little better (or lo left is a little Funky) 10 Apr Checked - empty 13 Apr 1330 Checked holes - empty. Hmmm. Strings down! 14 Apr 0710-0725 Heard birds, but no visits to holes ti: 0725, when 2 landed at holes + third landed nearby. 1500 Checked holes - empty. Hmmmm. When I showed up there was a bird near the granary hole. 16 Apr 1200 Checked both holes - empty. Now I am concerned 18 Apr 0910-0920 3 visits (inside) to hole. Climb - 2 eggs! Weird hole (lower left) need a drill. Wood so hard it bends nails (+ its dead!)
