(2 birds Flushed) in the E Facing hole in the oth-hand Fork of the burned tree Didn't cut it open. 6 June Jim reports 1 8 on 5 June, 2 on 6 June. Is the 9 different? (than last time)? He suspects there may be a 2nd nest - hole maintenance pecking. 10 June 0930 Peeped nest, 4 translucent eggs and no bird in hole (any of the times I came by) Hmm Put up a platform w/o Food. 18 June 1230 Came up to weigh hatchlings - nest empty! and birds acting weird (garricking, a drum) What's going on here? Needs a census. I put Food on platform. No more acorns here! 6 Aug 0815: Saw [illegible] Foot = 1754. Helled holes - nada. Put Food & water on platform 0930-1000 Spy From truck. No one sighted. Too close? 1105-1120 Helled, then spied on hole. Nada. Quiet. 4 Sept Hello holes - nada, gave Food & water. Granary tree dying, but has nice acorns (terminal effort?) 8 Sept 0850 Spied, helled - nada 10 Sept Val sees bird roost in high Fence hole NW of gran 11 Sept Hello high hole r others - nope
