1992 M. Stanback M. Formicivorus Plge HNHR 6 Sept Roost watch: heard bird at 92 nest hole. Check it. 7 Sept 0610 Hello'd hole - nothing 1300-1315 Spy. Saw a bird (juv?) go to a shitty hole in the main granary - look in. Not likely. Later saw adult fly to 92 nest tree, but high, x another left it or flew toward Plan (just an intruder?) 8 Sept 0645-0700 Watched 3 birds preening in top of granary - one flight to mystery spot (2°g), but nothing of note. 1330-1400 Spied on 2nd granary From Scott barn To see what all the visits to this part of the tree are about... seems to be a water hole here (birds dipped heads into it). Where's nest? Roost watch: very quiet, no real hints 10 Sept 0630-0645 Spy. Just preening in top of granary. 1220-1300 These guys aren't doing squat. They sit around or occasionally eat an acorn. One bird landed near the 92 hole, but that was it. What gives? Are they Finch Effect? 12 Sept 0700 Bird in hole! 0900 Check - empty, but chips
