Hogbeck Mine section from base lowest clay mined, up. Footwall with ripple marked surface A 0.1 Bentonite B 1.0 Argillaceous siltstone, interbeds + laminac of silt, C 1.7 Clay, silty dk gr to black, with thin laminac siltstone. D 1.3 Interbedded platy to shaly siltstoue and silty shale with silt laminae. E 2.5 Clay, Dk grey to black with silt laminae, silty thru et top. F 16.2 Sandstone, fine grained, clean, X bed. Subrounded. Some Fe stain G 1.3 Siltstoue, carbouaceous partings and avqill. zones. H 5.3 Clay, black finely silty semiplastic with clstu fracture - no laminae massive. More silty at base than at top. Simple.(1) I 1.0 Black shaly plastic & sculpstic. A fissil zone at top of bed. J 5.4 Sandstone, fine-grained, similar to F but dirtier, with carb flecks, Fe stain. K 2.7 Clay (not mined) olvtgrey to black finely silty sculp., upper 0.16 with layers siltst. Sample(2) L, 3.1 Sandstone, fine gr, X-bed, similar to others, some carb matter near
