Partial section of basal Benton at Rustler mine. Top of Dztotz transition zone 7.0 Shale - mostly obscured, upper - 2.7 feet is DK gray to black, hard silty shale. 0.2 layer argill., siltstone at top. [Sample 1] 0.4 Flint-like clay, saapy, like gray, may be bentonitic. [Sample 1A] 0.5 Argillaceous siltstone, ferruginous. 1.8 Shale, gray to dark gray, blocky, silty in lower half with some silt laminae, and thin beds. [Sample 2] 0.2 Argill. siltstone with shale partings, Fe saturated. 3.2 DKgray to black shale, locally finely silty in bottom 1.2. [Sample 3] 0.4 Brown ferroginous layer silt? 3.0 DKgray to black Shale [Sample 4] 7.6+ Shale as above with Scz Hard concretions Fe stone, Festone. Layers come in below some concretione.
