(Canon City trip with Ruechtel (July 23 thru 25) First stop - Skyline drive. Observed sequence same 23 as that in Denver basin with Glencairn member basal cgl. on Lytle. Base Lytle cgl. Lytle locally picks up green claystone interbeds. Glencairn has ss like the platy ss under shale #3 and a thin shale zone between it and the bszl cgl. Also looked at Grenados, Gocenbarn, Czuliste & Niobrera 24 Morning - Stone City, Codell & Timpos on rim across from Dry Creek C. Then exposures in Dry Creek Canyon & Spring canyon. Afternoon - Rock Creek - in slope mine to see thick clay. back thru Beulzh, Florence 25 Morning - Oil Creek Section Lytle-Glencairn contact on 115, this exposure also shows red beds locally in Lytle. Type Lytle - brief look from distance. Type exposes only massive sandstn. + cgl of section is poor as no Contacts shown Colo Spas- Garden of Gods- Dakota pzvt. Faulted out locally.
