1991 M. Stanback Species Accounts 1087 6? B 1795 6? H 1796 6? H 1798 6? H 1799 6? H. (28 May) 4 nests at 4. lewis chicks (8 kids) + 1 set of ACW's. Saw lots of everything. Phainopeplas, ravens, W. kingbirds, baby woodbucks, etc. An incredible day. My First horned lark! 8 June Turkey nest at Ll'ay - 12 eggs. Flushed ? 13 June Matilla poppies Finally start blooming at Griffins. 9 July 0830 Cooper's hawk (? ) rumaging through locust at barn upsetting Brewers blackbirds. I flushed him - he left carrying a small item (Bbb chick ?). - Red house W. Flycatchers lay 1st egg of 2nd clutch 0436 As I leave the barn area I hear a baby ACW screaming. Cooper's hawk flew off with it (see Y notes) * As I leave again, I notice ground squirrels going nuts. Badger! He trots about 50 m uphill toward the lone oak N of the barn. At the oak he disappears. When I first noticed, there were >6 ground squirrels standing together meerkat style under that oak. They all went under on his approach. After badger disappeared, I scanned the area (bordered by road, Fence, orchard) + counted 48 squirrels. All very still, standing tall, in
