1989 M. Stanback M. Formicivorus CUGR HUHR (9 April) Roost watch. Lynn reports 8r9 both in hole at dark. At last minute, both left the hole. 10 Apr 1200 Check hole - no egg laid 2-day. Birds did come to the hole this afternoon. Roost watch - one bird in at 1910 11 Apr am nest watch: Lynn reports 9 never visited. 1700 Check nest: just the 2 eggs. I checked on a whim, the 88b hole - 1 egg! I stole the 2 from "89a" 8r837 is not dead! Seen at nest! 12 Apr 1730 Shit, no new egg in the low hole, so who knows how old it is. Pat: got the egg out, I Filled the hole w chips, and put the egg back in 13 Apr 1800 Check both holes - no new eggs. I removed the egg in the lower hole & put it in the incubator 16 Apr 0925-0940 Spy. Birds in nest tree very near the holes. At one point I thought I saw a bird go to the low hole (poor visibility) 18 Apr 1615 Climb low hole and Find Fresh egg (labeled #1) Bird in hole on arrival. 19 Apr Well duggar all. I had Lynn start a watch at 9am (0800) thinking they would be done with laying - I guess not (also, Lynn had only 1 visit in 3 hrs). Anyway, at 1430 I climb low hole but it has only #1. Removed blind. 21 Apr 1230 Both holes empty - now what!?!? 24 Apr 0700 That First low hole egg (#2) developed in the incubator but died just by pipping. I put the wings & legs in N2 and the body in Formalin as CUGR #2
