1989 M. Stanback M. Formicivorus CHGO H NHR 23 Apr 0700: prefeed wts: B (Bian) 6.3 -1 RL (CVGR D) 5.3 -1 +40 35 45 LL (CV1 Z) 5.4 -1 +40 40 Back (Bian 12) died in lab 24 Apr 1730 After Lynn reports no Feedings in 3 hrs, I climb to Find 3 dead babies. Why? Easiest answer- weather. But maybe it was the sudden appearance of babies (though my experience says this shouldn't matter). Sorry guys. Now, where will they re nest? Oh, by the way, no one ever touched the mealworms, even as babies starved. 26 Apr 0700 I saved their heads For tissue samples (they've been in the Fridge) 1 May pm 2 birds Flush From the "new" hole above or on the downhill side. I return later w equipment to Find ... an incomplete hole. Meal- worms are still alive, and have not been touched. 5 May 1000 Bird Flushed From back hole, but I stick a runt egg into the First hole anyway, Mealworms still alive, well, and untouched. 14 May 1130 Runt egg still in lower hole. Top hole has 7 opaque eggs! Cut door. Mealworms still there. Was it a bad peep on 1 May? There is sort of a dog-leg. 16 May 1130 Should've known - hatched yesterday (but 2-2day). 1 egg unhatched + dead looking - removed. RL = 9.5 LL : 7 / RW = 10 / LW = 8.8 / B = 3.7 / BW = 4.15 I removed B + BW (24.9 x 18.55) to Gazo (eventually eaten) - 1815 Added in RW (12.8) = BW / LL = 12.4 = B / RL = 10.5 = BL From H B gave Chgo LL a little Food.
