1991 M. Stanback M. Formicivorus BLM 2 HNHR 16 Apr Hello holes - nothing. 25 Apr 1000-1020 Spy. Pretty dad here. One flight to W side of granary (I'm sitting on Far Knoll) 1030 Saw bird fly to underside of the branch Facing Bln 3 27 Apr 1340 Spy & see ACWs go to the 90 hole. There's a starling in the hole below it. 29 Apr 1130 Fly! After alot of trouble, I get a string up. Climb (Hey, this whole limbs about to go - yikes!) The hole's empty, except for 2 new small oak leaves. Saw an ACW-starling interaction on arrival. 5 May 1000 Bad news. Hole has a starling nest (with 1 egg). Cleaned it out. 9 May 1400-1415 Spy. And Find nest! Its in the limb leaning towards Bln 3 /here 1600 A dead limb or unpleasant climb. I peep, it - empty. A bird Flushed on arrival! 12 May 0900 1 Fresh egg! Now, I realized the rope was over the cavity (- a dead one it is) so I moved it down. Now, how to cut it. With a ladder! In the meantime I cut off a nearby branch to reduce the load here. 14 May pm. Roger reports Full time incubation here (Danny had almost no visits yesterday) 21 May 1400 Cut open hole (yuk!) 5 eggs! Forgot to check for Fertility. 29 May 1800: 16.3 - DB, 15.8, 9.5 not looking good. 2 late dead
