Perce, Quebec, Monday, August 5-1939
The day started in bright but soon became squally with light rains. It is cold and windy also.
In the morning examined the rocks of Mt. Joli and around to Cap Cameron. itself was between marl and the Split Rock The Weld, dips about 70° N. and strikes N. 80° W. Further southmar the dip is 73° N. and he strike N. 60-70° W.
The Mt. Joli formation consists of dark blue sh and hardulring-sandy beds from 2 to 10 mick's thick. Below the said exposure were some sandstones in beds 4-18" thick. About half way trans the Red are found two & gone, small nodules or small interformational jettles having join forms. Have are got Chyplimella Meta, Lepidodendralis, Oristella Spirifa flamellous, Phacops, etc. On one of the SS surfaces got Favosites effervescus and a branching Fan. At the very base a large branching Favosits with a Japhra-tis in commm. These forms show that the design is Welden-tayian.
Then follows the Richmondion and all seem mistake pieces of an Illaeus.
Captain called on Peter to the Perce Rock and got some Chitlany fossils.
