It is also cut by late Cengrie dikes. I
would not be surprised if this old stuff turns out to be Archean.
The Cambian quartzite was laid down
embedding out
in shallow water and thus sand standing
of layers is not thick. In places, this quartz-
it was folded an on thrust, and Cambrian
was a receiver. As this was done before it
became a quartzite, the deformation could
be due to slipping of the sea bottom. I
did not appreciate this conclusion at the
time otherwise I would have studied it
closer and taken samples. Evidently there
are Postergrie sediments of quartzites and
jadeite in this vicinity that furnished
the pettles for the conglomerate. In other
words are here here the Grand Canyon
succession in complete development.
Got back to the hotel at 5 P.M.
