and is covered in road metal.
El Paso is a brick city with many tale buildings:
We begin to get the architecture of the eastern states. All the workers along the railway are in the main of Spanish people. Outside of the city it is as much the desert here as at Tucson.
It is a cool morning and the hardly public are on streets, but the natives appear to be lightly clad and some are in shirt sleeves.
Mile after mile to the east of El Paso the R.R. runs along the valley of the Rio Grande coming falling to the deeper desert plain. One afternoon has a good view of the shallow valley and its wide flood plain, much irrigated land on the high flood plains seems here red cotton and fruit appear to be the main crops.
To the south we can see about 20 miles one has deep canyon points and the flows dip south into Mexico. Is this due to fault blocks? certainly are in California.
At about 30 and 40 or less then in valley and now modern farm sets to the north of the Rio.
