March 2, 1974, Tuesday. Sunday,
Today is a windy and gusty day. The
air is grey and the air is full of dust. The
wind maybe blowing 30 to 40 miles per hour.
It's from the south east. Now I can see that
much dust is blown about, and even the
sand will move today. However there can
be few days like today since the photos of
the dunes show but little wind having
a polishing.
Everywhere in the dunes the ditches stand
in a little defect almost a foot above the
general level. Some of this is due to the rush
holding material, but in the main it must
be due to sheet-washing removing material
of the dunes. If this is true the dunes must
be losing material at the present time.
