53 have come from the north, somewhere near Natural Bridge-Pine, and north end of Magatgal Mts, The following Pioneer formation is essentially a quartzite series, and lies with a sharp contact on the Scandm. It is at first a coarse quartzite, 30 f[illegible] thick. The next 140 f[illegible] has some shale and the rest [illegible] fine grained quartzite. Very little ripples, then the 700-800 feet of interlaced diabase. Rare Pioneers above. Barnes conglomerate is a quartzite with lots of pebbles; none over 4 inches across. Dripping Spring quartzites is a laminated and corn bedded series The points with the Apache Lodge des Min. little that of Bridg Hill, Of Dermian Springs we saw none. Sep, 27. The lake is very low, about 50 feet below high water. The dam across Salt River gorge is only 700 feet across at the top, but is 300 feet high. It holds rock about 26 square miles of water. Across the lake to the N.E., is a quartz series of E. dipping to the S.E. The evening comes from the lodge E. is a fine one. And the lake shore range for Arizona.
