He found the return trip easier than the going and got back to the hotel at 5 P.M. Grand Canyon, Tuesday April 14-1920 Left at 7.30 m m in car for the Hermit Trail. At 8.15 are once at the head of the trail where we left the car. For the three yrs walked down to Red Tops at the base of Hermit shale, Sturgess and Doctor then went on down to the camp to stay over night and walk out to morning. I had to get back to the head of the trail by 3 P.M. since that was my last time to get a bus trail to the hotel. Got back at 3.45 p. M. The Kaibab - Coconino contact is here a sharp one. Below is the yellowish-white orm-beded Coconino sandstone, and the Kaibab has a sandy base 6 to 10 inches thick, followed by a soft sandy dolomite 12 to 18 inches thick. Then the regulation thick-bedded Kaibat dolomite. There are very hard and then soft gums
