Grand Canyon, Saturday April 11, 1925 Got up at 6 and had breakfast at 6.30 A.M. We started down the Bright Angel Trail at 7:10 and at 10:15 we are on the Tonto Platform. I went to 1 mile beyond the Indian Gardens, or from miles down, and it is still 3 miles come to the Colorado River. At the four mile sign we failed, Strong and Dobson going into the river. After taking a number of photos I only curled myself back to the top of the Rim and for to the hotel at 4 P.M. Theope I walked our 8 miles and climbed 3500 feet. And start for a man nearly 67 years old. I am not very tired out, but could step thousands. The contact of the Kaibat-Coconino is a sharp one, therefore that is here a break as we saw far to the South. I saw again the three joints in the Hermit shale guttling the Coconino, and now filled with Coconino sand. Patroled the place again. Can these joints be due to perculating under ground water? The contact of the Coconino and Hermit is as sharp as can be. Both phenomena lend support to the idea that there is a break in deposition here. Near Redmore than was our evidence for break. The contact of the Muwar and Redwall is also a sharp. Patroled the contact. The Redwall fracting vertically while the Muar matters in clear bedding.
